Come And Sing With St Luke's

Where?St Luke’s Church, Sydney Street, Chelsea SW3 6NH
When?Saturday 29 September 2018, 7:30pm
Who?Jeremy Summerly (conductor) and Rupert Jeffcoat (organist)

Gabriel Fauré wrote his Requiem "for pleasure, if I can call it that!". After the première in Paris in 1888, the priest-in-charge memorably told Fauré that "we do not need these novelties". Fauré’s Requiem is now regarded as one of the gems of 19th-century French music, and St Luke’s, Chelsea as one of the gems of 19th-century British architecture: the performance of one inside the other is always a special event.

The Choir of St Luke’s Chelsea is calling all singers and singing enthusiasts to join them on Saturday 29 September to celebrate Michaelmas with a performance of Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem, finishing on a glorious high with Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus. We will be accompanied by the amazing Chelsea Camerata instrumental ensemble and will include a full rehearsal on the day from 3:00pm.

£10 for singers aged 16-25, £15 for singers aged 26+

Singers must be 16 or over. If you’d like to join us, please email giving us your name and voice part, and whether you’ll need us to provide you with a copy of Fauré’s Requiem (at no extra cost) on the day, or whether you’d prefer to use your own Novello edition (no other editions, please).

We look forward to singing with you in September!
